Cullompton Community Centre

Latest Stories and Updates

The Cullompton Community Centre is now open and ready for business! (Visit to find out more). Steve Alcock, Centre manager, and Georgina Kerslake, the administrator will be delighted to welcome you to this amazing £1.55m contemporary building.

Hundreds of people attended the opening during mid-December and were thrilled that Cullompton has such an amazing building open for the whole community to use. The first big event in the Centre was a pantomime, Cinderella, which was very successful.

Steve Alcock, Centre manager said: "It is a great privilege for me to be able to together with the community to develop this amazing facility for the area from its first opening. The building certainly has the "wow factor" and provides a range of rooms and offices, as well as a light, airy and flexible main hall and reception area. There are so many possiblities for community use of the building and I am very keen to listen to people's ideas and suggestions from the very start. There are some finishing touches still needing completion, including furniture and equipment, but we are keen that people come in to see it now and start getting involved in how things develop."

There are kitchenettes on all three floors to enable visitors to make refreshments and great views of either the historic grade 1 listed St Andrew's Church or the countryside. There are very stylish toilets on all floors, a lift and there is access for disabled people.

The main hall can seat up to 180 people, while five other rooms can seat from 5 to 35 people.  There is also an office space available for long term tenants. Outside there is a very smart terraced area and a large car park behind the building.

Sustainable  The 9,250 square foot centre, with its contemporary sweeping curved roofs and glazed walls, will be a landmark new building for Cullompton, helping to bring regeneration and new life to the heart of the town.

Grants We have received grants from Devon County Council, Uffculme Environmental Fund and donations from church members. We have also been awarded more than £700,000 from SWRDA (South West of England Regional Development Agency) which has since been disbanded, with responsibility passing to with Defra.
