Neighbours attended a special thank you lunch and tour. Councillors, funders, local organisations and many families came to see the three storey contemporarily designed building and marvel at how spacious and light it was with fabulous views of the church and surrounding countryside.
Steve Alcock, Centre manager said: "It is a great privilege for me to be able to together with the community to develop this amazing facility for the area from its first opening. The building certainly has the "wow factor" and provides a range of rooms and offices, as well as a light, airy and flexible main hall and reception area. There are so many possiblities for community use of the building and I am very keen to listen to people's ideas and suggestions from the very start. There are some finishing touches still needing completion, including furniture and equipment, but we are keen that people come in to see it now and start getting involved in how things develop
There are kitchenettes on all three floors to enable visitors to make refreshments and great views of either the historic grade 1 listed St Andrew's Church or the countryside. There are very stylish toilets on all floors, a lift and there is access for disabled people.
More than 30 organisations have expressed an interest in using the state-of-the-art building and it is hoped they will all come and tour the building which has seating for up to 180 people. It also offers a number of smaller rooms for local clubs, societies and businesses to hire and there are two spaces for long term tenants. There is an extrance hub where during the week people can relax, browse the bookstall and have a coffee.
