Youth Leadership Team |
The Youth Leadership Team exists to help provide Vision and Strategy to the Youth ministry at St Andrew's Church. The YLT is an amazing group made up of young and old, short and tall and with varied experience and gifting. We meet frequently through each term and link with the Youth Intercessors group below. We are: Tim Boxer, Kat Maynard, Di Vickery, John Mackenzie and Tom Thompson. |

WHAT'S ON AT ST ANDREW'S...

Laser
...for young people in years 6 to 9 at school and meets mainly on Sunday mornings during the 11am Church service. This is a relaxed environment for young people to be introduced to the Christian faith...grow as disciples of Jesus and hopefully build lasting friendships. Laser meets every Sunday when there is a 'normal' 11am service (excluding All Age on the first Sunday of the month). We also have termly socials which range from bowling and sleepovers to beach trips and more!

The 630
The 630 is the evening service at St Andrew's which - you guessed it - starts at 6.30!
This is 'home' to many of our young people at St Andrew's and is also a place that looks to welcome anyone with little or no church experience. Band led worship; teaching and minsitry is the general set up but with some special features through the month:
1st Sunday of month - The 630 'unplugged'
This is a more chilled service with acoustic worship and shared communion
Last Sunday of month - The 630 'unleashed'!
On this Sunday we take more time to worship, pray and experiment...taking risks being creative and listening to God. It's fun!

PODS
Pockets . Of . Disciples
'preparing young people to carry gods presence'
POD's is an amazing oportunity for young people to gain wisdom and teaching from older members of the church. Young people are prayerfully assigned to pairs of mature christians. This can be a truly transformational and grounding experience...getting to know Jesus alongside both your peers but also more mature Christians.
PODS are usually between 2 and 4 young people (yr 9 upwards) with 2 older leaders. They usually meet fortnightly on a day that suits the particular group.

Mentoring
Mentoring is: entering into a safe and accountable relationship with an older more mature Christian with the intention of transference of God experience, life experience and encouragement for the young person.
There are several different mentoring opportunities available at St Andrew's which are aimed at supporting you, as a young person, in your growth with God, leadership, personal issues, prayer life, and understanding. Mentoring can be an incredible experience and most often the experience is one of real encouragement.
The 'Rise Up' programme offers a more structured apporach to mentoring and includes some input and teaching along the way around the theme of leadership. However, this will not suit everyone so other accountable mentoring relationships are also encouraged and available. Please talk with Tim Boxer if you would like to explore the possibility of mentoring for yourself.
